Hello everyone! My name is Guillermo Azumendi and I am going to tell you about my experience with some of the charging points in Malaga. I embarked on an adventure, I toured Malaga testing the charging points for my electric car, all with the help of the ZeemGO mobile application.

I have made a small excursion to evaluate these chargers in the province of Malaga using the new ZeemGO application. This app has helped me find the chargers I needed on my way, leave my review and earn ZeemCoins. My tour was in the DS 7 Crossback plug-in hybrid. Its electric autonomy is not the most durable (40 km) but to take a good walk in the area it is more than enough. The type of connector that the vehicle has is a Type 2 connector.

Expectation vs. reality

Before starting the tour, finding and testing different charging points in Malaga, I thought they would have some failures, however on this trip almost all the chargers worked correctly. What I didn’t know, as a new user of electric vehicles (or plug-in hybrids), is that the charging speed was so slow for vehicles with AC connectors. In addition, in many of them the recharge speed was much slower than expected.

By spending a considerable time waiting while the car is charging, the ZeemGO application is essential to know what facilities the charger has and choose one according to our needs. In addition, it also informs you if the charger is working correctly and lets you know if the recharging speed is as expected, among other things.

Advantages and improvements of charging points in Malaga

I share my recommendations based on the experience of my tour of the charging points in Malaga.

Chargers I would recommend:

  • Iberdrola Charger, El Palo, C/ Salvador Allende 19
  • Endesa charger, Rincón de la Victoria, Parking PARKIA Plaza de la Constitución
  • Iberdrola charger, Soho, Manuel Agustín Heredia 18
  • Iberdrola Charger, Teatinos, Pirandello 9
  • Charger Iberdrola, Teatinos, Mcdonalds Marismas 1

Chargers that can improve:

  • Wenea charger located in Torre de Benagalbón, Restaurant Tony Reserved

The reason for not recommending this charger is that apart from the fact that the recharging speed is not as desired, I had problems charging in one of their chargers (since there were two in the same place), however, they called us from Wenea to try fix our reload problem.

  • Mercadona charger located in Torre de Benagalbón, Mercadona C/ Pepa Flores González

Not having much experience with electric chargers, this charger did not seem very intuitive to me like the others, however once the charge begins one realizes that the speed is very slow. The positive point is that if you buy at Mercadona, recharging is free.

Chargers I couldn’t test because they were busy:

  • Iberdrola charger located in Soho, Manuel Agustín Heredia 18

In this charger we asked a man who was charging his electric vehicle and he told us that everything worked correctly and that the charging speed was acceptable. In addition, the location is very good and being able to park there while you charge your vehicle and do things in the area is what most takes into account when using that charger.

ZeemGO: Find the charging points you need in Malaga

What I liked the most about ZeemGO is that it has a simple interface, friendly for new electric car users like me. It is easy to use, it shows all the chargers in your area of interest and their ratings, but what I liked the most is to earn rewards while leaving my reviews and ratings, on the trip I earned a few ZeemCoins and it was only for writing my opinion on the application. With the ZeemCoins I’m accumulating, soon I’ll have the chance to test drive a Tesla with Future Drive.

Travel by electric car

As a summary of this short excursion, the charging points in Malaga that have transmitted the most reliability to me are the Iberdrola chargers. Almost all the chargers tested worked, but the recharging speed is something to take into account if you have plans, so I found it interesting that in the ZeemGO application you can see what you have nearby, such as supermarkets, or if you are near a McDonalds, so you can better plan your time and see what activities you do while you wait for your electric car to recharge.
